weight loss on wellbutrin

I have been on wellbutrin XL since 10/15/08. I started at a weight of 165 and today I am 136 (01/15/09). I am a 5' 10" female. I feel great.

I was binge eating during my depression and ballooned to 201 May 2008. Anyway, its helped with my depression, food cravings, weight loss.

I was on wellbutrin (generic form) 2 years ago and i dropped weight fairly quick..i didn't know it was the wellbutrin I had started a new very physical job and i thought thats what was doing it...I started having alot of memory loss, couldn't finish sentences etc...anyhow the dr took me off wellbutrin after being on it a year and put me on lexapro... gained all the weight back plus some! I went from 135 to 169 pretty quick...
I just started back on the wellbutrin 4 days ago and im already down 4 lbs....Im feeling great more energetic, i actually want to get out of bed and do stuff now...I actually stopped today and went for a walk on the beach! a week ago I never could have done that!

When I was on 300 mg of Wellbutrin it gave me a really bad stuttering problem (which I had never had before). I went completely off the meds which was a huuge mistake b/c the depression came back with a vengeance. I'm now on 150 mg of wellbutrin and 50 of dopamax (to help with headaches). I also take xanax as needed for anxiety. This seems to be the perfect mix for me.

I started Wellbutrin XL today (generic form) 150 mg for an eating disorder with binging and purging. I have the binging and purging under control so the psychiatrist stated that the Wellbutrin XL was safe but I am still nervous - has anyone else been in the same situation?

In addition, does the generic version of the XL still have the same weight loss as the regular version? I am trying to be careful about the weight loss since I am already on Topamax and Prozac for the eating disorder.

I was on Effexor before and gained about 30 pounds after losing 30 on weight watchers. This led me to get depressed more than before. My doctor recently put me on Welbutrin 150mg for depression and also weight loss.I am also doing weight watchers again I hope it works!!!

My doctor just prescribed me Wellbutrin (generic) today... I was on Citalopram since July and went from 135 to 152, which in turn, has made me gain a ton of weight. I work a stressful full-time job and can't seem to find the time to think!!!

Anyway, I want to believe that the Citalopram was the cause of the weight gain, but I got off of Topamax after 2 years in February of last year... so I'm wondering if the weight crept back on from that. But, I really only got down to 133 on Topamax to begin with. So in 6 months I went from 135 to 152... over the holidays of course. But I don't think I over-ate. Then again, I'm a bad judge when it comes to those things. I like to make up excuses.

So... basically, doc put me on Wellbutrin today for anxiety and a little depression. Also, I need to quit smoking and live a more healthy, active lifestyle. So guys I'm there with you!!! Wish you all the best!

I went off Topamax a couple years ago because the side effects were so severe but I found that the weight crept back on quickly even though I was eating healthy. I went back on Topamax in October due to the migraines and I am just dealing with the side effects and the weight is coming back off. So, I really believe that Topamax plays with weight easily. Hang in there!!!

Just wanted to say I started Lexapro about 2 years ago...When I started it i was around 122. Now Im 150. So its made me gain about 30 lbs. I just eat and eat...I love to eat and when I know I shouldn't I still eat. The Dr put me on 75 mg of Wellbutrin today and she said that should help with my appetite & binge eating.?? I thought Lexapro wouldn't make me gain weight...but it really did..and I'm only 5 feet 1 inch so it sucks when I gain weight b/c its more noticeable.

Could you please let me know what dosage your taking???? 150 , 300 or 450??????? Thank You [/b]

I just started wellbutrin today - I am a little nervous about it. I already take tegretol that has made me gain 10lbs. that won't budge. I have had a hard time with winter this year and hope that this will help.
