Hi. My daughter (21) has asthma. Recently, she has decided to stop treating her condition. She was prescribed with asthma preventer and rescue meds, but she says she`ll be just fine without them. I fear she will have another asthma attack. What are signs of uncontrolled asthma?

Hi. Many parents think their child`s asthma is under control but they just can`t recognize signs of uncontrolled asthma. If your child woke up at night at least once a week with breathing problems, or symptoms of asthma, it is a sign of uncontrolled asthma. Asthma symptoms and flare-ups are other signs. My son has asthma and I have to make sure he gets a flu shot, to be ready for the cold season. I work with his doctor to identify the best treatment for him. I encourage him to wash his hands frequently to avoid germs.
