Hello. I'm 45 year old female and I was wondering could anyone help me understanding some facts about my symptoms.
About a month ago I have first time noticed some strange symptoms that I have never experienced before. I first felt numbness, prickly feeling or stinging pain in my fingers when I was washing my dishes at home. I didn’t pay too much attention on it because I though it is normal response to cold water.
But, the next day reaction was much stronger and it was accompanied with sequence of skin color changes. A friend told me that this is definitely problem with my small blood vessels in skin and that maybe diabetes could be a cause. But he also told me that some Reynaud’s syndrome could also cause the same symptoms. Please help!

Hello. I would really like to help you and that’s why I will tell you some stuff you should definitely know. I sincerely doubt that diabetes could be your concern. You didn’t mention that anyone in your family had this disease and I know that hereditary plays a major role.
If you didn’t feel any other symptoms that I believe we are talking about this Reynaud’s syndrome. Reynaud’s is a condition that causes some areas of your body- such as your fingers, toes, tip of your nose and your ears - to feel numb and cool in response to cold temperatures or stress. You have described almost all typical signs of this syndrome. This can also happen when you are under lot of stress. No one completely understands the cause of Reynaud’s attacks, but blood vessels in the hands and feet appear to overreact to cold temperatures or stress. As a treatment you could choose some medications that relax and open up small blood vessels in your hands and feet.
