hiya. im an 18yr old who has been on fluoxetine prozac for 6 months. i have issues with alcohol dependancy and spend an average of £70 on binge drinking with my friends. i know this is not sensible and i am having councelling to deal with the problem.
however i am scared by my health. i have noticed blood in my urine for the last 3 weeks, and when i go out i occassionally have a fit, or pass out and spasm. sometimes i get blanks where i simply cant remember what has happened at all.
can anyone tell me if this is likely to be the result of mixing prozac and alcohol, or just the symptoms of binge drinking?
any comments appreciated.
xxx

i was in the hospital just last night from an alcohol induced black-out. My friends did not know what to do and they said i was screaming at them to take me to a hospital. Im prescribed to 20mg of prozac and had no clue the combo was so bad. I had quite a bit to drink but hadnt felt anything for atleast three hours.. i mean actually i had a mild buzz but not completely uncontrollable and then out of nowhere i hit the pavement, literally. According to my friends, my eyes would roll to the back of my head whenever she asked me to look her in the eyes. I would then be surrounded by people and get up and stammer to a less occupied area where i would once again hit the ground. It was weird how at one moment i had absolutely no control and then the next i'd be running and screaming. The majority of medications say "do not drink alcohol" and people do all the time with no problem whatsoever. Maybe doctors should be more clear on exactly what happens if you do because I would have never picked up a drink and i most certainly will not from that night on. My question to anyone with information is will there be long-term effects?
please help!

From my own experience, I'm very skeptical about interaction between alcohol and Prozac.

If you passed out while consuming alcohol and taking Prozac: I strongly suggest it was just the booze. Worry about the booze, not the Prozac.

Just a suggestion, pot is much healthier than alcohol.
