Hi. I’ve recently had severe lungs problems including fever and dry cough. I’ve visited my doc and chest x-ray showed some abnormalities. My doctor diagnosed me with primary pulmonary tuberculosis. Does that mean that I have Tubercolosis or this means that I have a great possibility to develop it?? How dangerous this state is and how efficient it can be treated?? Thanks for all replies.

Pulmonary tuberculosis is one of the first tuberculosis symptoms but it doesn’t mean that you indeed have tuberculosis. Only about 10% of people infected with M tuberculosis ever develop tuberculosis disease. Pulmonary tuberculosis is just one state from which you can develop tuberculosis, but if treated on time, it can be avoided. What is even better news for you is that pulmonary tuberculosis frequently goes away by itself. I believe that your doc already prescribed medications to treat it so don’t worry to much – just take your medicine regularly and visit your doc from time to time to check development. All the best.
