Same thing happened to me 20 years ago after my hysterectomy, except the first time I got out of bed my entire leg went numb. They lied about the cause. When I say they lied, I really mean it. The surgeon said the nerve conduction test was negative. Another doctor called it up from the hostpital and showed it to me, result: significant difference in nerve conduction between the numb and non-numb leg. My surgical
nurse friend told me that during that type of surgery, they put the instrument tray over your knees and then lean on it. Sometimes that type of constant pressure can pinch a nerve where ever the pressure point is. Mine was right on the side of my
knee. The feeling gradually came back over then next few weeks, but I was never able to run again without pain and finally gave it up. It took 10 years before I couldn't pinpoint the exact point of of the pinched nerve and was finally pain free. Nerves can regenerate, but very slowly.
