occasional difficulty swallowing while recovering from broken ribs

A few weeks ago, my aunt suffered 2 broken and 2 cracked ribs after a fall down a flight of stairs. She has been experiencing occasional difficulty swallowing food, and had a choking scare when a small meatball was lodged in her throat. She has been advised by another relative to have her esophagus stretched. Is this a good idea?
