It is very hard to say what the symptoms of lupus are. This is an autoimmune disease that is hard to diagnose because there are no special tests.

There is a list of potential symptoms and if a person has more than 5 of these symptoms, they may be suspected of lupus. Of course, all of these symptoms may not be present at the same time. Only after a detailed examination of the person’s medical history, routine laboratory tests and some specialized tests related to immune status can lupus be diagnosed.

You may be more suspicious or more prone to lupus if you’re genetically predisposed (someone in your family has it), suffered from infections, took antibiotics and hypertension drugs, have been exposed to ultraviolet light and extreme stress. It is more common among adult women than men.

Some of the symptoms may be present at one point and then disappear and they often resemble other illnesses.

I will just right down some of the most common symptoms and you can tell me then if you had any of these: painful joints, chest pain when breathing, skin rashes, light sensitivity( rash caused by exposure to sun), high fever, kidney problems, hair loss, fingers turning white or blue in cold, and mouth and nose ulcers.

Like the previous poster stated there are several different symptoms of Lupus. Joint pain, fatigue, hair loss, rash across face, weight loss, are some of the main symptoms. Many times organs are affected by Lupus.

If you suspect you may have Lupus go to your doctor and express your concerns. They will most likely run a Sed rate (checks for inflammation), ANA, Anti DNA, CBC, plus a TON of other tests. Based on these test results a diagnosis of Lupus can be made. A diagnosis can also be made by looking at blood cells under a microscope.
