loosing my voice and throat going numb

Hiya,

Everytime I drink alcohol, whether it be one drink or several, the following day my throat has a numb feeling and my voice has gone. Even if I dont drink for a couple of weeks and then have only one , i suffer with the same problem. And when it is very bad, it feels like I am swallowing poison. Granted, i talk loads and have done all my life, so why now is the problem seemingly getting worse and only whilst drinking alcohol? Should I be getting off to the doctors to find out more?
