I've had lymphodemia in both my lower legs and feet for nearly 5 years now, and i also get badly swollen ankles. From my experience and what i have been told by the specialist at the hospital, weight is a minor but important factor, the more you weigh the worse it can get, i've lost nearly 2 stone and my lymphodemia has gone down alot, and even if weight is not a factor movement in general helps improve it, i regularly use a bike as that keeps my legs moving and keep it in check.
Another way to help is, as said above, wearing pressure stockings/support bandages, get measured at your hospital for some, they are a miracle especially in summer months as my legs get worse then.
Two final things that help me also are keeping my legs elevated, sitting down in a chair (e.g at the computer) for too long makes my ankles swell up alot, so do that, and also be careful of cuts/blisters etc... as lymphodemia makes you more susceptible to infections.
I hope that helps... and one last thing, although the specialist isn't sure whether it's a contributing factor to keeping my lymphodemia in check but i started drinking alot more water not long after i was diagnosed and i saw some improvement, though this could also be due to other things i did, but just a thought to keep in mind.
Hope that helps
