Hello! The problem with
glaucoma is that it can’t be prevented just like it can’t be cured but there are ways to control the disease in order to prevent it from progressing. Medications and surgery are used for this purpose and the earlier the diagnosis is made (just like with and illness), the better.
Do you have a history of glaucoma in your family? If you do, then you certainly fall into a major risk group for developing glaucoma. People who fall into this risk group are those who are older than 65, who are Black or
Asian, who are taking steroids, suffered from eye injuries and people with diabetes and chronic inflammatory disease.
People who fall into this category are advised to have their eyes checked every one to two years.
