how much diphenhydramine is an overdose?

I must say this topic really opened my eyes. I recently went through rehab for alcohol abuse but I have been taking 200 - 500 mg a night to help me sleep. It usually takes an hour to kick in and I get a buzz for about half hour and then if I stay up I get extremely paranoid. When I get up the next day I am no longer paranoid but admittedly irritable.
I assumed if it was sold without a prescription that it couldn't be that bad. I realize I am now abusing this drug and I will have to stay away from all drugs unless directed by a M.D. Male/220/5'11

I'm a full blown insomniac. I usually take 6 sleep-aid pills in which the active ingredient is, obviously, dyphenhydramine. I always drink a half pint of vodka with it, as I find this is a nice little balance. I wake up without too much of a hangover, and I actually get sleep. I haven't seen any adverse side effects.... yet.

you wont overdose you have to take much more than that i took over 600mg at once one time to trip and i was fine just hallucinating

I am 14 and was 14 when i first experimented with high levels of diphenhydramine HCI. Used to do it regularly. 400mg is the most I've personally ever taken. Never OD'ed. In large amounts it is considered a deleriant, a recreational drug in which the user finds himself in a state of stupor and confusion, assiciated with hallucinations. Not very fun. im pretty sure 100mg won't kill you.

I have taken one a night nytol for 3 years. i now take 9 a night, each night as my body has become so immune to them. so thats 50mg x 9 each night. I have always been looking for overdoses on nytols online, but cant find any. soit cant be that bad.
yes its alot and yes im addicted, my doctor knows, but i still take them every night. ask me any questions

To anyone taking these pills for sleep problems..stop because it is definitely not healthy and this post proves so seeing that all these people chose these pills to attempt to commit suicide.

I have the only and best solution for anyone suffering from severe insomnia or some kind of problem that prevents them from sleeping:

Smoke some marijuana, weed, herb. Healthiest form of sleep medication. Basically get yourself a vaporizer and take a couple of hits (for those of you afraid of the side effects, if you only take at most 2 hits it will be enough to put you to sleep right away and not feel the other effects)

Please trust that this is truly the only and safest way to help with sleep problems or pain problems that cause lack of sleep.

Biggest side effect of longterm use: temporary loss of short-term memory.

I overdosed a few months back on tylenol p.m. at the Walmart i used to work at. That's 1200 m.g. of benedryl. I don't remember getting to the hospital. I ended up having a heart attack and was in a coma for four days. The nurses said i was lucky to be alive. I weigh 130 lbs. and was 19 at the time.

I'm sorry this is just ridiculous, it's not dangerous, even at 300-400mg, just do the research

Usual Adult Dose for Extrapyramidal Reaction:

Parenteral: 10 to 50 mg IV or IM as needed. May increase dose to 100 mg if required. Maximum daily dose 400 mg.

Oral: 25 to 50 mg orally every 6 to 8 hours.

Usual Adult Dose for Insomnia:

25 to 50 mg orally at bedtime.

Usual Adult Dose for Motion Sickness:

Parenteral: 10 to 50 mg IV or IM as needed. May increase dose to 100 mg if required. Maximum daily dose 400 mg.

Oral: 25 to 50 mg orally every 6 to 8 hours. Administer first dose 30 minutes before exposure to motion and repeat before meals and upon retiring for the duration of the journey.

Usual Adult Dose for Cough:

25 mg orally every 4 hours as needed, not to exceed 150 mg per day.

Usual Adult Dose for Cold Symptoms:

25 to 50 mg orally every 4 to 6 hours as needed, not to exceed 300 mg/24 hours.

if doctors prescribe 150mg for motion sickness, I doubt 100mg is even going to be adverse in the smallest way.

okay seriously.. i took 35 last night which were 50mg each. do not do it. i have two friends in the hospital right now on the 5th floor because of it. one of them had their stomach pumped. not a nice thing to think about when its your good friend. he's better now but overdosing on this drug is fatal, stupid, idiotic, and just plain dumb.
