I'm 44; I am having some thyroid tests done now because my heart rate sometimes for days can be 120 or 130 and my normal rate is between 97 and 100. I'm a type 1 diabetic and in a perimenopause. I've heard somewhere that heart rates can go up during perimenopause. This week my rate is basically normal for me but last week my pulse was racing and it seems to me that I can feel heart palpitation thru my thyroid gland.

I am also in the perimenopause and I’ve experienced heart palpitations. They commonly occur during perimenopause and can result from vasomotor instability. They are considered to be the equivalents of hot flashes and they usually involve rapid heartbeats and generally are not indications of heart trouble. But you should check your thyroid. I have no trouble with this.
