TO whom ever it may concern,
I am currently using hydrochloro thiazide
to treat my hypertension.
Over the course of time that I have been using this drug, I have experienced weight loss.
I was wondering since diuretics are used for people who want to lose weight, is this drug a possible factor in me losing weight.
Hi rbell: Yes diuretics are TOTALLY the reason for your weight loss! Depending on your age we are between 50 and 75% water 75% being a baby and 50% being an elderly person. So think of a lot of that water coming out of your body - due the diuretics. Just be careful that you don't loose too much water, eg Feeling dry mouthed, fatigued etc. And now that it is water loss not fat loss And I'm sure you already know this but you really have to watch your sodium intake - as it will counteract your diuretics. Good luck and health
