Hello! My 9 years old girl is overweight. She started school some years ago and some of the children have already started mucking her. My husband and I are both overweight. I used to be obese but am control it now. I would like to know if my child could experience some health problems if put on diet. Thank you

You should never, ever put a child on a restrictive diet on your own. The only time you can do so is if ordered by a doctor. If you limit your child with certain foods, it could be harmful to their health and interfere with their growth and development. You need to make sure she gets a a wide variety of foods from each of the food groups. However, you should consult a doctor if she starts getting obese. If she is only overweight, that may change when she enters puberty. Instead of placing your child in front of TV, make sure she gets enough physical activity and spends her time out playing.
