I am diabetic for several years but yesterday, for the first time I have heard that dental care is very important for diabetics. My sister went to see the dentist and he told her something about it. I don't see the connection. Maybe I am wrong, but is it really important to take good dental care for diabetes?

Well, at first look there is no connection. But there is. It is crucial to wash up your teeth's at least two times a day, and to visit your dentist two or three times a year. It prevents diseases and, at the same time prevents the level of bacteria to increase. If they do increase they can spread all over the body. Hypoglycemia complicates control of periodontal disease. Bleeding gums and other signs of periodontal disease can be symptoms of diabetes and can lead to diagnostic and treatment.
