could constipation be linked with diabetes?

My mom is diabetic and she suffers from severe constipation. She is on several meds but I think that id due to diabetes. could constipation be linked with diabetes? Maybe she needs diet.

Yes, it is possible because people with diabetes often experience a complication called autonomic neuropathy, which may cause constipation. Intestinal nerve damage can inhibit the regularity of your digestive system, but it may not be diabetes. You are right it could from medications. Tell her to add more fiber in her meals, and make sure she is getting enough water and physical activity.
