Chromium is a mineral found in different foods like beef, poultry, and potatoes. Chromium is important because it regulates the body’s insulin function, enabling its cells to perform many important functions, like metabolism, muscle building, and nervous system support. When people don’t get enough chromium, it may lead to insulin resistance. This way, more glucose stays in our bloodstream, and gets stored away as fat rather than being burned for energy. Chromium picolinate is a combination of chromium and picolinic acid, used as a nutritional supplement. It is the most efficiant form of chromium because it is more easily absorbed and used by the body.
