even if you become ana, there is no way to lose 20 lbs in less than a month. if you completely stop eating, which is quite difficult, i might add, your body adjusts to the new, lower intake of calories and learns to burn less in order to survive. the body is resilient.
it is suggested to lose 1 to 2 lbs a week in a healthy diet in order to keep the weight off. though this can be discouraging, there are results eventually.
of course i've never been able to do the "healthy" way.
but even if you stop eating and exercise like crazy it is very very difficult to lose 20 lbs in less than a month.
the basic rule to any weight-loss program: eat less, exercise more. that's how it should be done.
I don't think im overweight but i do think im a few pounds past my prime...i broke my wrist a few years back never went to the dr. so it healed improperly....so i had my wrist re-adjusted and now after 3 years and 45 pounds later im finally able to get back into the gym and working...not to sound conceited but i was in damn good shape 3 years ago and now i look like crap...im thinking about using laxatives as a way to get me started for a short period of time...will that affect me in the long run?
Hi all! funny... I Google laxative weight loss and came across this site, I am 65.7kg (okay I am South African and here we weigh in Kg's!) now until about five months ago I was an avid Spinner but could not do it anymore for financial reasons, my weight loss has not been going to well its and up down up down battle! What if I use laxatives just to kick start the weight loss process? I have heard of an alternative solution to use instead of a laxative, it is Blackcurrant Tea. My aunt used to use this and worked very well for her and she is the healthiest person I know! (FYI - i suffer from constipation anyway... could it be that bad if it is in moderation... and what would moderation conclude to once a day....?)
i use laxitives to lose inches off my waist but only short term, im joining the army so i eat right work out hard and use a laxitive maybe once a week as a cleanse pretty much. if you want to lose weight eat healthy 5-6 times a day and weight train, muscle burns fat and calories up to 48 hours after your workout.
ive been reading up on laxatives lately and have been tempted to use them... i would say im about 10 pounds ove weight, however, i take a variety of medications that leave me a little "backed up"..i know the theory of "what goes in must come out", but it doesnt seem like thats happening...is taking a stool softner or laxative once a week, ,possibly twice, that damaging? i work out 5 times a week and eat right, but with my medication, the "what goes in" is simply "not coming out"... any thoughts??
Prella,
I just read your post and it made me really sad - I know how you feel. When I was in high school and university in fact I was carrying some extra weight. The funny thing was that people still found me attractive but I never saw that, I'm sure it's the same with you.
Laxatives are not the way to go. Just try to eat sensibly and be more active. I love sweets so that is my problem and it always will be! When I was in my last year of university I lost a lot of weight - I actually wasn't trying to and I have maintained it for 8 years now. It may have been just a matter of shedding 'baby weight' and maybe it will be the same for you.
Nonetheless, try to work on how you feel about yourself - I found that when I started to feel good about myself the weight just dropped off somehow, maybe it just made me want to treat myself better. Remember, there is more to you than a couple of extra pounds!

I was once 468 lbs. I was really hard headed. I continued down the wrong path. But please don't try laxatives. I did and they have become very addictive. I feel that I have to take them everyday. I even take them when I have diarrehea. I now that, that is dangerous. But I can't help it. Please don't try this. Go get a fitness membership or something. Eat healthy but please leave the laxatives alone. I decided to join curves it has really worked. I lost 22 lbs. in 6 weeks.
Okay, here's the REAL deal. Everyone here has been posting negatively about laxatives. I hate to say this, but they are quite amazing. You just have to know how to make sure you take them right.
1. Don't go more than one pill over the recommendation on the back. You really don't want to end up seriously sick.
2. Every month, skip a day or two and take that day to get a large intake of calcium. Is it technically enough to be healthy with? No. Will it keep you going? Yes.
3. Buy a good brand. Anything under 5$ is going to seriously harm you.
4. Eat high fiber foods to help the laxatives kick in. They will also still have a positive impact on you, however increased bowel movement will decrease it's beneficial properties.
5. Watch yourself. As depressing as it may seem, weigh yourself twice every week. You do not want to let it get out of control.
I'm 5'6, 115 pounds, and I take them myself, and have eventually learned the best way to handle them. I'm at my ideal size and weight, so I've taken a break from the laxatives for a good 6 months to see if I can manage it on diet and exercise alone.
Hope it was helpful

This helped me lose weight. Not a full 20 lbs in a month, but after 2 weeks everyone was saying how much thinner I looked. I did 1/2 hour of HARD cardio every day (20 mins machine bike and 10 mins elliptical). I went all out for each of them, until i was sweating a lot and panting. After that, i did like 2 mins crunches. That's all i did. Do it every day and i SWEAR you'll see a big difference within 2 weeks. The challenge is - DONT EAT MORE than you do now. don't try to eat less, but don't eat more than your usual. You'll feel more hungry when your metabolism speeds up. If you feel hungry in between meals, eat an apple and chug water. AVOID FOOD places like the kitchen, don't eat cuz you're bored. Lots of water (not soda) helps curb your apetite. It's rediculously hard to lose weight and keep it off without exercise, and this plan is really short and easy. Also, cut soda and sugary drinks out of your diet. Water is boring but it doesn't have lots of calories and sugar. |
I started doing something similar to this too and dramatically lost weight. Over a couple months, though- but at least it was healthy and my self-esteem has sky-rocketed.
This modern north american world we live in really doesn't help. We can't blame the fat person for being fat. We drive everywhere, sit all day (work, school, studying (me), etc) and we don't even have to open doors for ourselves (lot's of automatic sensor types now). Society has adopted a fast-paced convenient method of living. And a hamburger is much cheaper than a chicken salad. We're deemed to get fat unless we splurge on healthy foods and make an extra effort to excercise. Pre- industrial revolution era, when people walked, physically worked, and prepared their own non-processed meals did not require the extra time set aside each day for running on the treadmill. In today's world unfortunately, it is a requirement.
