I can tell you that this condition isn't rare. Most of the patients are women. As for the therapy, corticosteroids and splenectomy are most commonly used. Vitamin C, intravenous gamma globulin and pectin might also help. Doctors should be sure that patients don't have lymphoproliferative disorder. This is very important, especially for older patients.
