Ednometriosis and Foods Craving
by Kyle J. Norton/Women's Health
As we mentioned in other articles, endometriosis growing somewhere else other than the endometrium also reacts to hormonal signals of the monthly menstrual cycle by building up tissue, breaking it, and eliminating it through the menstrual period. As we know endometriosis causes symptom of foods and sugar craving for some women during menstrual cycle. In this article, we will discuss how endometriosis elevates symptom of foods and sugar craving.
Foods and sugar craving may happen to some women with endometriosis, it is caused by abnormal liver function in regulating the amount of insulin in blood stream or mineral deficiency as resulting of high levels of estrogen.
1. Carbohydrate metabolism
High levels of estrogen depress the live function in inhibiting the bad estrogen resulting in reducing the liver function to regulate the insulin produced by the pancreas in carbohydrate metabolism. If the levels of insulin is too high in the blood, the communication between liver and pancreas will stop the insulin production. With out normal communication of these 2 organs, pancreas will continue to produce insulin leading to foods and sugar craving.
2. Magnesium and vitamin B deficiency
magnesium and vitamin B deficiencies caused by malfunction of digestive absorption of nutrients are common for women with endometriosis resulting in inability of our body to regulate the levels of blood sugar.
3. Serotonin deficiency
Women who have low levels of serotonin during menstrual cycle are generally craving for chocolate because of low levels of sugar in blood stream caused inability of liver function in inhibiting the levels of estrogen for women with endometriosis.
4. Iron deficiency
Women with heavy menstrual flow and have low levels of iron may also experience foods craving but not necessarily for iron-rich foods.
5. Stress
Since hormone imbalance causes stress during menstrual cycle, under tense or anxious, we tend to crave for comfort foods or foods that make us feeling good.
Since endometriosis is treatable and manageable by natural remedies and a self help course, if you have endometroisis, please look at the bright side.
