Hi, my daughter has dermatitis and has been using steroid cream for a few months. I believe that her skin is becoming too sensitive to surrounding influences. Are there any alternative meds for improving skin condition?

Hi, I use a cream based on Evening primrose which has healing properties in oversensitive and irritated skin. I have contact dermatitis and need something else but corticosteroids since their prolonged usage is not recommended. You should also supplement calcium, magnesium, zinc, and vitamins B6, C and D, because steroids interfere with their absorption. Most resources suggest that after stopping steroids therapy skin atrophy is reversible at two months. Additionally, you can take calendula cream or other natural based produts to stimulate formation of new skin.
