alternative chemotherapy for treatment of lymphoma

My father also suffers from hodgkin’s disease and he is having chemotherapy now. He is experiencing severe side effects. He has developed mouth sores, has diarrhea all the time, feels nauseous and like vomiting. He is not taking it very well. I am also interested in alternative methods and something to stop these side effects. I have been asking questions around but my father doctor says that he will treat him only with standard drugs. And it is said all alternative therapies needs to be checked with the doctor.
