When does birth control start to become effective?

I just started to take birth control and was wondering if it starts working right away or if it takes a little while for it to get in my system and become effective?[/list]

i was just thinking the same thing.
when exactly does birth control take in effect?
i was on birth control for about 3 months and had unprotected sex.
im due to get my period in a couple days, but im quite an impatient person. whats the possibility of me being pregnant?

Birth control is effective after 7 days of use.

IF you started the pill when you were on your period, then it is effective immediately.
