I've been bleeding for almost 4 months and the multiple doctors I've seen havent done anything for me. The last doctor prescribed be Yaz that was meant to stop the bleeding but it hasn't done anything. I bleed heavily, i have to change my pad every 2 hours. But now I'm starting to clot, I get at least 10 to 20 BIG clots a day that I mostly pass in the toilet but now they come out into my pad and I have to walk around with them until I can get to the nearest bathroom. I hate living like this so if anyone has answers, that would be great.

I have had a few prolonged periods over the years, and generally the cause has been anovulation. I have severe endometriosis and several smallish fibroids, and I am now in my early 40s. I can only tell you what has been done for me to stop the bleeding - 10 days of progesterone (which I strongly suspect has made the fibroids grow, but it has always worked.)

In my case this time, I began a very heavy workout program kinda abruptly, and I drank a high-protein shake after every workout. Some of those shakes contained very high concentrations of soy protein, which is a known cause of dysfunctional uterine bleeding, as soy puts the uterus into what's called a 'secretory' phase, where the endometrium isn't thickening but is actually engorging and bleeding. In spite of my age, I don't think my problem as yet is menopause, since my female family members tend to go through it in their early 50s.

For those who might have surfed into this forum looking for answers, I can let you know what little I know about the DUB issue. If you have had a period for 3 weeks or more, GO TO A DOCTOR. They can treat it effectively, and you don't have to suffer. Possible causes are anovulation, cysts on the ovaries (especially true for prolonged light bleeding), endometrial hyperplasia (ditto), endometrial polyps, pregnancy, and hormonal screwups caused by things like eating foods that are hormonally active (look up a list of phytoestrogens/phytoprogestins online and AVOID them until your problem is effectively treated). For those with bleeding after sex, cancer is also a possible cause. But most likely, you didn't ovulate last month, and your body is confused.

For the lady who had the brown, smelly discharge, you almost certainly have an infection. Definitely go get that treated!

I hope this helps.

I'm 23 years old and I have been expriencing irregular peroids. My period started when I was around 12 or 13 and it was regular until I was about 18. It came and stay for a month and when I went to the doctor she basically said it was nothing but it has been 5 years and I'm still experiencing the same thing. It occurs 2 to 3 times a year. I'm very worried and concerned about whats going on because the doctor keep saying its nothing. My diet, daily activity, or lifestyle has not changed. Anyone who has an idea about whats going on please help!!!

My period has been on for about two months now. I really want to know what's going on, I'm only 20 years old and this has happened about 4 times now. When I first got my period I was about 11yrs old, It was regular and I didn't have any problems. Then I was put on birth control when I was 13, it started to be irregular. I took them for a couple of months then i stopped taking them. Two years later I became pregnant and then I was on depo. I only got the shots like 2 times. After that, I didn't have a period for a year. Then they started again but irregular, come on a month skip a month, and now this. I really need some answers Mad

I was on depo -took 3 shots. After I stopped got my periods after 7 months and have been bleeding for 10 days now. Doc says it is normal. Wished to know, did your stop after 2 months?
Anyone else, who has been off depo, please share your experience as when it stops since that will give me some idea what to expect.

I am 34 years old and I have had regular 28 day periods for most of my life. Recently I started my menstrual cycle on Dec 22 and then it ended after four days. Then if started again and has not stopped now for almost two weeks. There is no pain and it is light. My mother is a nurse and said that sometimes this happens. However I made an appointment with my ob/gyn and I will write about what I find out about this. It is good to know that I am not the only person who has experienced this perpetual period.

I had an OK period at the right time, which started 11 days ago. It tapered off after the 4th day and I thought it was over. But ever since then I've been spotting. Its very little blood, but when I pee, sometimes there are clots. I am scared.

I had a miscarriage at Xmas and am still bleeding 2 months later. I've been to the doctor several times and had a couple of ultrasounds, the last one showing nothing except a cyst on my ovary (which I've had for years as it showed on my ultrasound 3 years ago when I had my last child).
I am going back to the doctor yet again today, but I find they are pretty useless. Didn't even suggest I get a curette after my miscarriage, even though my 1st ultrasound showed retained products.

I would really love if some of the ladies posted back with the results of what happened with them, as I'd love some suggestions as to what is my problem. I desperately want to get pregnant again, which is impossible if I keep bleeding...
