This is a difficult problem to be sure, one that almost everyone getting medication treatment has to consider in some way. Weight gain is clearly caused by medications used to treat bipolar disorder. Some medications cause this weight gain more than others. This weight gain can be so large as to have its own serious health consequences. That’s why we all need to take it very seriously. Physical activity and diet can help prevent this weight gain. Simply that is very important to tell patients to eat right and get
exercise. It takes more than this simple advice, because weight gain may be associated with causing mood problems that look like bipolar disorder. If this was true people could look like they are bipolar from weight gain. Anyway, we know that weight gain caused by medications for bipolar disorder could make mood problems even worse. As you see that is possible, and maybe you should talk to your doctor about changing
medicine you are using to treat your bipolar disorder.
