Treating AIDS

Hi. My sister was diagnosed with AIDS. I know there is no cure for this mean disease. I would like to hear more about treatment of AIDS.

Hi. Treating AIDS is a full time job. Treatment of AIDS includes highly active antiretroviral therapy, or so called HAART. Optimal HAART options include a cocktail of minimum 3 drugs belonging to minimum 2 types of antiretroviral agents. HAART will stabilize the symptoms, but it can`t cure the patient and it can`t alleviate the symptoms. However, many patients with HIV have shown significant improvement with such a treatment. Antiretroviral drugs are really expensive. A vaccine would be much cheaper, but there is no any. Also, you have many forms of alternative medicine, including massage, herbal remedies and acupuncture.
