I am 49 and will be scheduling thyroidectomy next week. I missed my period last month but blood test showed negative pregnancy result. Last week I showed all signs of ovulating. Surgeon says surgery will be postponed if test is positive. How much time between conception and implantation to show defenant answer? If test is negative will surgery bring down my menestration? Sad

An HCG blood test should be able to detect HCG about 2 weeks after ovulation. Good luck!

I hope everything turned out well for you. I tried finding out info about this myself and it's impossible to find anything. I had my thyroid removed in Sept. 06, and the pregnancy test they took before surgery was negative. well come to find out the week after surgery when i was late that I was pregnant. So my dosage was raised, then again a month or so later. The Wed. before Christmas we found out we had lost our baby. I had to go in the next day to deliver because I was about 17 weeks along. Now my levels are high and have to wait to see if the latest change will work. Now that I'm no longer pregnant and have gone through the 6 week recovery from that and had a period, I find out today my cycles are obviously messed up. I have NEVER been irregular and now 10 days later it's starting again. I hope you found out if you were or weren't expecting before your surgery. This last 5 months has really been difficult. Crying or Very sad
