Sudafed severe cold caplets making me cough?

Two weeks ago I have had severe viral infection and I did not treat it properly so bacterial infection came also. As for symptoms I had headache, nose dripping, weakness, dry cough which happened rarely, but it became showing more of the when I started taking Sudafed. Could Sudafed severe cold caplets make me cough?

Sudafed is actually pseudo ephedrine. Its basic function is to create constriction of blood vessels in the mucus of respiratory tract in order to prevent mucus from making pressure to nasal passages which would obstruct breathing. It is possible that constriction affected throat too, or that cough is simply a result of a cold.
