I am 7 weeks post thyroidectomy and right at my incision site it appears as if I have a hotdog laying sideways. This fold is very hard tissue. My dr told me everyone "comes together differently and give it 4-5 months".
I have never seen anyone with this. Is this normal and will it shrink down? I also have a small pucker above this and the dr. said it could be that a stitch caught on something and stitches take 7 to 8 weeks to dissolve. My mother thinks I got a botched job, however, my dr. came with a very good reputation for this surgery. Is this normal. Is there something I can do to help move this along?

I had a thyroidectomy 12/2005 and had the same type of concerns with my scar. Today my scar is almost invisible. It took about 3-4 months before it was no longer the first thing I saw when I looked in the mirror; now I don't even see it!
