Pain / Discomfort on right side

For the last 8 months i have felt a tightness around the right side of my neck. at night i feel a slight pressure in the right side of my head and havent been able to sleep comfortably on my right side for these 8 months. It is not a sharp, unbearable pain but feels simply 'strange' - the 2 times since that i did sleep on my right side i woke up soon after in a panic which has now left me paranoid not to fall asleep in this position again.
sometimes when im tired, i would get a pain in the area around my right ear and just above this and finally, sometimes when i touch it i feel a slight discomfortfort.
have had blood tests for thyroid - negative. seeing a physio without success. experienced the problem on holidays where i wasnt stressed and have had the eyes and reflexes checked on 3 occassions.
