I have been suffering from a tingling and numbness in the fingertips of my hands. My wife is upset because it’s inherited in my family. Could it be because of poor circulation?

The numbness and tingling in fingertips is more uncomfortable than painful, and is usually associated with nerve entrapment. The nerve that supplies this part of your hand, could be under some pressure, two likely places are neck and wrist. The nerves who exit the spine in the neck and travel down the arm into the fingers. Wrist is endangered because the nerves to the fingers go through a small tunnel at the wrist to get into the hand - called the carpal tunnel, if pressure here exists middle fingers are the most affected. This condition is called carpal tunnel syndrome.
