My gynecologist says that everything is normal in my body, and, yet, I suffer from severe premenstrual syndrome. I have headaches, my breasts become extremely sensitive, and I feel like a movable container, with all that retained water in my body. Rather than prescribing me pills, she suggested natural remedies for PMS. I’d like to find out something more about the possibilities of treating troublesome premenstrual period with natural and not chemical substances.

First of all, balanced diet is essential for improvement of the state of your organism during this period. Take at least eight glasses of water a day (believe it or not, it will help your kidneys stop retaining all that water, which really occurs due to some changes in the level of estrogen in your body). Have several small meals during the day and avoid salty food, snacks, coffee, chocolate or intake of large amounts of fat. Eat fish, chicken, dairy products and vegetables, especially spinach, potatoes and peas. Increase the intake of whole grains as well. Anxiety and stress always accompany premenstrual period, and they can be successfully lessened by aroma therapy. Chamomile or lavender oil proved to be very efficient when it comes to mood changes or outburst of tears. Health food stores offer various herbs useful in PMS treatment. Black cohosh helps with the cramps, dandelion root prevents bloating while valerian root soothes and calms. Primrose seeds are also helpful in decreasing the strength of almost all the symptoms mentioned. So, visit to your local health food store should prove to be very beneficial to your health and should also alleviate all those obnoxious symptoms.
