My Mom is 67 and has been taking bp meds for last 10 years. Three years ago she switched from atenolol to enalapril. She has very healthy nutritional habits and respect all doctor’s suggestion. I control her bp every day. Recently, her pressure has begun fluctating even with regularly using medications. In fact she experiences postural hypotension.

Diuretics and alpha blockers are known as hypertension meds that can cause postural hypotension. As she is on enalapril that is ACEI, maybe she needs dose adjustment. Sometimes it is needed to low the dose to avoid fluctuations in blood pressure. Sudden changes of position should be avoided too. Enalapril is excellent in treatment of hbp in elderly people, but it cause unproductive cough as side effect.
