Hi, my very good friend is suffering from major depression. He had family tragedy several months ago and since than he is not same man he was before. He is not interesting in other people, he is barely eating something and he is crying very often. I would like to help him but I don't know what to do. His doctor prescribed him therapy but he is refusing to take it.

Hi, major depression may be very big problem which have to be solved with help of family or close friends. Such people are not reliable and very often they are ready to commit suicide. Therapy has to include medications which mean antidepressants and anxiolitics. Also it has to be combined with psychotherapy and support from family and close friends.
