I have a cousin with constant joint pain that lasts for many years. Few weeks ago, he was diagnosed with arthritis. However, I have heard something that surprised me. I have heard depression is common problem that goes along with joint pain. In addition, I have heard depression therapy is able to help there, so I want to hear if that is true.

It is well known that depression therapy can help ease the pain of arthritis in elderly people. I have to admit that is what some new research has found. According to these studies, four in five people over the age of 70 suffer from the crippling joint disease. In the same time, one in six experience depression. That brings us results found that those given therapy for depression also showed fewer symptoms of arthritis. They suffered less pain and were able to carry out more of the daily activities. I mean those activities that their disease had prevented them from carrying out previously. This was a very interesting, somewhat unexpected benefit of depression treatment for joint pain. These findings were encouraging, since there is currently no known cure for arthritis. Now doctors are just so delighted to see improvement in the arthritis area. I guess you know that arthritis is a chronic inflammatory disease, which causes long-term damage to the joints and results in pain and disability, and now we found maybe depression therapy could help those patients.
