I am 54 years old and I have been diagnosed with diabetes mellitus type1 couple of years back. I have succeeded in maintaining it with healthy life and medications but I am experiencing some problems now. How does diabetes affect my gums? They are bleeding! I am concerned about my health and would like to know what to do next?

It looks like your therapy is slowly becoming inadequate. It might be that ph levels in your organism are increasing because f the raised sugar level in your blood. This means acidity level is decreased and that could leave the open door for all sorts of bacteria to affect your organism and that may result with bleeding gums.
