Hello, guys. My brother has multiple sclerosis and doctor gave him avonex. However, he developed flu-like symptoms from this shot. I would like to know how to deal with this kind of symptoms. Has anyone had similar problems? I would really appreciate all your answers. They will mean a lot to me.

Hello. Avonex shot is indeed interferon. These proteins are normally produced in a human body. Avonex is used as a shot with people with multiple sclerosis. Flu-like symptoms are very common for people who use it. I suggest your brother to stay on this shot. With most people, symptoms lessen through time. He can try using Avonex at dinnertime or bedtime. He can also some drug against fever before taking Avonex. He should also make Avonex to reach the room temperature before taking. If this doesn’t help, he can consult with his doctor.
