Gallbladder attatched to the Bowel implications?

My friend had her gallbladder removed, key hole, during the operation it was discovered that it was attatched to the bowel. How come this was missed and what are the implications of this, will it effect her life in anyway?She is 72 and in reasonable health otherwise.
