I have read everything on here about excess mucus. I have had this problem for about 10 weeks.. 2 weeks before I had my baby.

We had a leak in our kitchen ceiling so my husband tore it down(still not fixed). I got really sick the next day and have been ever since. I couldnt hear very well for about a week and got very panicked and spent lots of time in the emergency room. Nobody could give me answers. Finally, I was told there was water in my ears and/or the tubes just under my ear. Eventually that went away, mostly. Anyway, I still have what feels like a lump in my throat, dryness too, my chest also feels like that. It is harder at night and when I eat. My doctor just tells me it will go away it is only anxiety..not! I had complication from the c-section which caused me to have PE and DVT so I am now taking Warfarin.(which sucks) I have come across several different things that may help.. ginger tea for example and more but I cannot take them. To add to that, I also have a yeast overgrowth, which doctors dont like to admit to having any affect on you health (it does) I got lots of good information at yeast connection.com ... you can take liquid chlorophyll to help with the excess yeast.. or probiotics which is what I started taking.. so far so good..

Things are starting to ease up..

My son had similar issues due to post nasal drip... he took Echinesea-GoldenSeal..15 drops in water(swallowed) 2-3 times daily and it got rid of his problems. This also helps with other ailments.

Good Luck! Ask your doctors to check for yeast overgrowth.. That could be a big part of the problems in cases.

Another one here with the same thing.

It's so annoying constantly feeling like I need to clear my throat. I find it especially bad after I drink..

I'm tempted to go to my Dr but it seems most people have done that and not got anywhere.

Its really annoying me because I want to join the army but I know if I have this problem they wont accept me.

Does anyone know natural remedy's? Like honey and baking soda or something.

I know how you all feel, its so ANNOYING! Sad

Go to www.healthtalkradio.com on any Sunday and depending on your time zone, call into the radio program with Dr. Julian Whitaker. The advice for my throat clearing was to make a solution of water and a quarter teaspoon of salt and sniff it into my nostrils to the back of my throat to clear up what he thought may be post nasal drip. The ENT had me on several drugs and thought I also had GERD without the normal symptoms. Dr. Whitaker said that the ENT put me on the drug band wagon which I believed. I had already quit taking the drugs after my second appointment because I wasn't getting the relief I expected. I also used a Neti pot which also helped. This eased the problem but didn't cure it yet. If enough people call into the program with the same problem he may bring in guest doctors to help solve all these throat and sinus problems. We can only try.

The site I typed should be www.healthytalkradio.com. I accidentally left off the letter "y" and it made a big difference in sites. Sorry!

My doc (just this week) told me to go to an ENT and get scoped. My gag reflex is HIGH; not sure if I could survive that!

I had it done and there was no gag reflex at all! It suprised me, but it seems to somehow be bypassed.

OK, here is my story.... 2 months ago, I had to go for a mammogram, while there, I cleared my throat and felt this horrid ripping feeling on the left side of my throat. Thought it would be gone by the time I got home... It wasnt, so I called the family Dr and was told to come right in. He looked at my throat, decided to send me for a sonogram of my throat, ok, so I went the next day and that came back negative. Dr. calls me, says I need to go to an ENT, I make that appt. wait 3 weeks, and go to him, still in pain. He does the throat scope, which was not all that pleasant.. Tells me he sees nothing, however, I have a "nodule" that he finds while feeling my neck.. Sends me for a CT Scan, ok, next day I go for that, hospital does it, I leave, there is a storm, they lose all of their computers, TWO weeks goes by before I get the results, and to get those results, I went to the same hospital emergency room because I thought I was going to choke to death, this was the first time I felt this excess mucus in my throat Those scans are "unremarkable", negative, nothing... They tell me at the hospital that it is my teeth. (I was born with no adult teeth in the back, so still working with baby teeth at age 34) I go to the dentist to find out that I have 3 abscessed teeth on the same side as the pain. Not to mention 3 others that have to come out.. I get told they are draining, that is the feeling in the back of your throat, I go have them removed all in the same day. A week goes by, I start coughing up blood, I get so upset that I am once again back in the hospital emergency room. They tell me that it is from the teeth, do a chest x ray and take a million blood samples, all is well.. Back to the family Dr. he says now it is all anxiety, so I am now on Paxil, I have tried Zyrtec, Claritin, Sudafed, Prilosec for the stomach, eating mints to control the stomach, and now I go back to the ENT this Friday... I still get a little pain now and then, but the "lump" feeling in the back of my throat is insane!!! I cant take much more of it..Occassionally I can cough up a little bit, and it is nothing but clear mucus. I have to clear my throat before I talk, when will it end???????

Well ever since I was like three months pregnant I started feeling mucus in my throat. I would make myself throw up just trying to spit them out because they were so hard to spit out. And even after spitting I still felt mucus in my throat. This would be most of a problem in the morning and when I hadn't have much to eat and get really hungry I would feel the mucus and throw up. I told my doc. while I was pregnant and they just said try no to drink too much milk to choose other dairy product like yogurt and stuff... it didnt help! Anyways now that it's been almost 2 years since I had my baby I still have the mucus and it is still hard to spit it out, the only thing is that I don't throw up. Someone please help because nothing here has helped much and sometimes I feel I'm the only one with this weird problem.

I am a physician and have been to an ent and i do have alot of mucus secretion in the back of my throat, i was offered steroids both oral and nasal and though they minimize symptoms, i think it is a combination of foods and indoor pollutants and environmental pollutants because i live in a large heavily polluted city. my personal experience has taught me to use something called a netti pot. I thought initially that this was kind of bogus because it is a small teapot shaped ceramic instrument that holds salt water and you drain it into one nostril and it travels through the sinus cavities and drains through the other side. It feels very weird and a little uncomfortable but not painful and i had to use a very small amount of salt, but it cleared up the problem very quickly after a few treatments, after the first treatment i had alot of improvement and it is a very inexpensive way to approach most of the congestion issues if you dont want meds. This wont work if you have deviated septa or polyps or obstructions but it has worked for me when i had sinus infections and alot of secretions. If you have tried other things and havent found something worthwhile try this as I have met other pple who have had good success with it. Good luck
