Ive been getting nauseous and dry heaving for at least 3 months now. ive been wondering if it could be pregnancy but then i looked at if i was allergic to dairy. but still

im nausea in the morning at 5 am when i do not eat im dry heaving at night when i just eat something and its not dairy. so maybe its acid reflux or maybe the esopagus is having issues swallowing the food.

im stressed at work but i dont think thats the case of it.

I've had this for years. I've never been to the Doctor about it but judging from some of the posts on here, there doesn't seem to be any real reason that they could identify or even cure it.

Mine happens every morning, and it's usually first thing like when i go to brush my teeth (and no i'm not sticking my toothbrush too far back... as lots of people say when i explain this to them!) and then it continues while i'm getting dressed and making breakfast. It usually stops by the time i leave the house, but sometimes happens as i get in the car.

The strange thing is, is that when i get up and i know i don't have to leave the house, and don't get washed and dressed right away it doesn't happen. It only seems to be when i know i have to get up and go to out the house to work or wherever...

This has made me think it could be related to anxiety? I have been treated for anxiety in the past, and i wouldn't say i'm particularly afraid of leaving the house; i go to work and socialize etc... i just don't see what it could be. I've even thought that maybe it's as simple as hating toothpaste....

It's horrid though! I'm rarely actually sick because of it, but when i am it's just bile and stomach fluids due to everything i've eaten being digested overnight. I wish i could make it go away.

I can totally identify with everyone except that I only get the dry heaves when exercising, and after having sex. More recently its been occuring after almost every one of my sexual encounters. No its not because he is ugly (lol), and no he's not massively huge and hitting my cervix; its satisfying, painless sex yet I heave almost every time. Some say its because of the excitement, or simply caused by orgasm, but we've been together 1.5 years and this has only started happening within the last 4 months. I have no idea what it could be and I'm pretty sure a doctor would suggest "taking it easy" on the sex for a while. But the problem is that even the most gentle sex makes me heave...what could it be???

me too! i have had these weird heaving sensations on and off for 3 years now. the first time they lasted for about 4 months, mostly in the morning, and i couldn't stand any food or any smells either. i thought i was pregnant, but was not. the symptoms left for about a year. this first time i was in a really stressful relationship and looking back thought it had something to do with that. the following year, i had the symptoms again, not for as long, but i was no longer in the stressful relationship. i was however, moving, so i figured it was still caused by stress. this year, the symptoms are back and just awful. no idea what is going on!!

I get this usually just in the mornings as well, and occasionally when I'm eating (usually if I have a lot of food in my mouth)

As someone else said too, if I know I don't have to go out, usually I won't heave.

i have been having the dry heaves for 6 years. I have been to my Doctor. Have had numerous tests run. Have kept a journal of all eating and activity to see if there was something in common that was causing them as they come on at any time on any given day (but seem to come on more in the AM). Sometimes they last for a few minutes and sometimes for hours. I am so tuckered out by the time its all over. I would give anything to find out why this happens and what can be done about it. They told me to take Gravol every day.....I am not willing to live on Gravol at all times!!!!!!

Sorry for the long post.
Yup been having the SAME thing here for the last 3 days. I'm going to go a little further in to it than some people have.

#1 I've noticed over the last 2 years or so that my stomach can not handle what it used to. I am a bartender so I have cleaned up quite a bit of vomit with no problems. NOW I simply relive something involving vomit and SOMETIMES it makes me gag. The brushing of the teeth can make me gag as well as one of the earlier posters has said.

#2 I've been in a relationship until 3 days ago for almost 2 years as well. She was with a few different guys and a few different girls as well. I didn't see any of it coming until I found out. Yeah Juliette Lewis in Old School bad. Anyway, I've been stressed out the ass for the last few months because I had suspicion and now that I find out I broke it off. My stomach is going haywire. One night I went out and ate a full rack of ribs with my friends (where I was comfortable) today at work I dry heaved about every 2 hours and ate 1 little grilled piece of chicken (when I THOUGHT about what was going on, where I was UNcomfortable). NOTHING comes up. It just hurts my jaw and my stomach more than anything.

#3 Throughout the last 2 years I honestly think I have drank at least 1 drink a day maybe missing about 10 days total. I tried to stay away from hard alcohol and I stick with beer or wine. RIGHT NOW I am drinking a glass of wine and am pretty fine.

#4 I had a bad acid trip (first F'ing time, thank God)when I was 20 and still have not been able to calm my nerves since them. I am 30 years old now and , when stressed, still get the occassional panic attack. I do not take any prescribed depression medicine and have my bad days just like everyone else. However, sometimes when I can't sleep, I DO take a valarian root or 2 to help me fall asleep. I took 2 of them last night after having only 3 beers when I got home and had crazy nightmares, cold sweats (and LOTS of sweat), and kept waking up in the morning. I could fall back to sleep only after calming myself down.

5# I just starting working out again (to get back in shape for the ladies if/when a good one comes along) and noticed the dry heaving today and today only. It feels like I was at a concert all night long in my throat. Like when you are talking all day long or you are in a band and sing all night long. Very sore throat with something that feels like phlegm but when you swallow it only makes it feel worse and possibly gets you THINKING about heaving.

#6 I smoke about a 1/2 to 3/4 of a pack of cigarettes a day and have since I was 18, so for about 12 years. (yeah I know I should quit but whatever). Alcoholism also runs in my dads side of the family and I have literally ALMOST drank for every day for 2 straight years.

Throughout all of what has been said, I'd be willing to bet that at least 75% of you have either a) had a bad trip with some mental drug, b) are VERY stressed and worry about things (like we all do), c) maybe it's physical activity related, or d) or maybe there's actually some sort of disease that we haven't figured out yet. We all know stress causes ulcers so the ulcer thing may be correct, however, I really honestly believe it's stress related. I have experience in dealing with panic attacks as I have been getting them on and off for about 10 years now. This dry heave thing is nothing more than a nuisance since we all know you can't shut your mind off all the way. For those of us that have the anxiety issues (no matter how we got those issues) I think the important part here is to figure out how to deal with those things. My situation is extreme in my eyes so I think that's why this has totally showed up with little warning. Maybe some of your problems are a little further down that you might want to look. Just take some time and write out any bad things in your life, relationship, or job on a piece of paper. Think about how the things make you feel and then rip the paper up and throw it away once you have your answer. I would be willing to bet most of our issues are from stress. I hope we can all figure this out. =)

Does anyone think this could be a food allergy? I have the exact same problem but i'm also a vegetarian and eat a lot of soy products. I am just trying to figure this thing out. It's been happening for about 6 months now and it's really hard to carry on with my normal life. Please let me know if you figure anything out.

do not go on zoloft is mood-altering is something you don't want. Zoloft tends to make you feel emotionless... sometimes dizzy/dazed and just all around "strange." It is definitly an anxiety problem which sucks because "self-treatment" is whats recommended but its hard when you're anxious and stressed about it... anyways, try prozac if anti-anxiety is what you need. If you are nauseous see if you can get a script for zofran. It has been helping... I just get some dull head pain but as a long term migraine sufferer I barely notice.
