Done breastfeeding and still no period!

I need to know how long after someone quits breastfeeding their baby will they get their first period. My daughter is a year old now and i have just quit breastfeeding her. I have not had a period since before i became pregnant and i am a little worried that i haven't had a period yet. please tell me if i need to seek medical help or if i should wait it out to see if i get a period soon.
