I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes about 6 months ago. I am experiencing extreme foot pain, mostly after resting. When I put weight on my feet it takes me a while before I can actually walk because of the pain. Is this a circulation problem? What can I do about it? I have been exercising and am controling my diabetes with exercise and diet and metformin. I have bought good shoes too thinking it was a bad shoe choice. But I have these problems with my feet a lot lately. This has been going on almost a year now.

There could be a few causes of foot pain in diabetics: neuropathy, circulatory problem and infection. If you have swelling, redness, etc - it could be some kind of an infection.

See your doctor to find the cause and then take actions depending on the cause. Good luck!
