I have polycystic ovarian syndrome and for about a year now have had regular periods on the 15th of the month. My boyfriend and I use the pull out method and though he has not cum in me, I have recently been having pregnant symptoms. I have 1 child now and I did not have many of the normal symptoms with her such as morning sickness. My periods are usually heavy but I don't normally have pms symptoms with it. Now I am feeling the tender breasts, moodiness and queasiness. I had what I thought was my period last month but now I'm not sure as it was a couple of days early and lighter than normal. I am now a couple of days late but I have taken 2 htp's and they are negative. My question is could the hormones associated with polycystic ovarian syndrome cause the tests to be negative though I may actually be pregnant? I could really use someones help in this matter. Thanks

As far as I know, PCOS does not give false negative HPTs.
But I have heard that if you are farther along in a pregnancy, the HPTs will not show a positive because they are meant for early detection. But I really don't know if this is true.

The best way to confirm a pregnancy is a blood test. Could you go have one done?
The withdrawal method is really not an effective birthcontrol (but you probably know that) Wink

when I conceived my baby, I had a weird light period in the first month.

Thank you for that information, I have made an appointment for a blood test so I can ease my mind. I think stressing about it has probably just made my pms symptoms worse, so the blood test should put my mind at ease. I know the withdrawal method is not a very good method, but when we became intimate I was not ovulating and very rarely had a period so the chances of me becoming pregnant were almost non existant, but now that I am regular again, I should probably rethink our method LOL Again thanks for the information

I have PCOS and have had for some years. Recently I have missed a period which is very unusual for me. I havedone several tests and all have come back negative. Reading the instruction leaflet inside thebox, it does state that Ovarian Cysts can cause the test to give false readings. So, If I miss my period next month, i'm off for a blood test too!
