My mother is an RN and was diagnosed with this at Mayo Clinic several decades ago. I'm sending her a copy of your article for any comments. I've always felt it was caused by her use of the x-ray machine to get a tan back in the early 50's. Several of the other nurses at that Doc's office came down with "rare" blood disorders.
