Hello there,
I would really appreciate if someone would inform me, what are classic anxiety symptoms. My younger sis (16) is acting very strange lately. She cannot sleep, she is angry all the time and her school results are worse each month. First we thought she was abusing drugs… but she is my twin sister and we have almost the same friends (we live in a very small town) this is almost impossible to be a case. So, my question: What are classic anxiety symptoms?

Hey there,
With anxiety heart and other parts of the body work faster and brain releases stress hormones (also adrenaline). As a consequence, there are two types of symptoms, ones that effect body on physical level and those that effect body and mind (psychological). Physical symptoms are abdominal pain or discomfort, diarrhea, dry mouth, shortness of breath and pain in the chest, rapid heart beat, dizziness, difficulty swallowing. While psychological symptoms are insomnia, irritability and anger, madness, fear, lack of concentration, unreal feeling and some other psychological states of mind.
Ok, this are symptoms… but I would like to say that your sister is in very sensitive stage of life (so are you) and I wouldn’t determine her behaviour as anxiety … It all might be a cause of stress … it is best to talk to her about that, I suppose as with twins is usual, you must be the closest person to her.
