Child diagnosed with ITP

Hi, my child had throat infection 3 weeks ago, and yesterday he felt and cutted his finger, and the bleating couldn’t stop. Finally, we went to search medical help and got ITP as diagnose. How could it happen , that the body lost capability of coagulation? Why didn’t doctor gave him any drugs?

Idiopathic immune thrombocytopenic purpura- ITP is a condition in which antibodies (defense molecules specifically designed for certain invader)are produced against the platelets in the blood, so their number is decreased and blood clotting can not be performed normally any more. It can result in prolonged bleeding in even small scrapes and cuts. By children it can occur following an infection caused by a virus. If ITP lasts less than 6 months it’s acute condition and that’s the most common condition. In acute ITP symptoms go away on its own within a few weeks or months. And treatment is not needed. If ITP is chronic it’s a life-long disease, with loss of capability for blood coagulation in less or greater degree.
