Dear sir/ madam:

We have recently noticed a small mass coming out of the anus of my seven year old son. When I took him to doctors for check up, they have recommended cygmydoscopy, and the surgeon will cut off that polips. The mass coming out of the anus is somewhat red.

I am not a medical person. I am much worried about it. I came to this quest site while searching information about polips. Doctors have suggested for cygmydoscopy whreeas some people have told me that the mass will disappear itself in few years time.

Considring my dilemma, will you give me information on polips and suggestion regarding the step I should take. I need your suggestion at your earliest convenience.

Well, if a doc said that sygmoidoscopy is needed, then it should be done. Children are usually put to sleep during this procedure, so he shouldn’t feel anything.

You should work closely with your doctor but if you find their decisions inappropriate, you can always look for a second opinion. Polyps will not go away on their own, they are usually removed. They should be removed to see if they are benign or precancerous. They should be also taken to be differed from those that are associated with inflammatory bowel disease.
