Hi. My neighbor has been recently diagnosed with the bornholm disease. I’m just wondering what that is and is he contagious?? Should I avoid him until he heals??

Well, Bornholm disease is an infection caused mainly by the coxsackie B group of viruses and main symptoms are pain and fever, usually located in the chest. It is usually an epidemic disease which can effect both adults and children so I believe that your neighbor is indeed contagious. On the other hand, Bornholm disease gets better on its own and there is no specific treatment for it. So, even if you somehow get it, it is highly possible that you will have no complications – you’ll only have to take some painkillers until you get back to normal.
