Hi, my child has reoccurring yeast infection in mouth due to taking steroids on regular basis for
asthma treatment. The proper alternative is to use a
steroid with smaller particles, like beclomethasone. Studies have demonstrated that using QVAR with a spacer device is almost completely taken away from mouth. If you practice rinsing of the mouth after applying medication will almost guarantee no steroid left in the mouth. So, there are no conditions for yeast to develop. Specially, for children it is not recommended to use steroids on regular basis.
